Google, the omnipresent tech giant, is brewing something fresh in their labs, a tool by the name of Genesis.

It's an AI-driven tool that writes news stories.

Give it some financial stats, sports updates, or even weather forecasts, and it can churn out an article like a professional journalist. This little revelation was shared by none other than the New York Times, stirring up quite a buzz among journalists.

While some see Genesis as their digital Robin, others are apprehensive about it playing the role of a job-snatching villain.

Now, I know you’re wondering - isn't perfecting such a tool a Herculean task?

Yes.

Genesis needs to ace two major feats - accurately digest data mountains and, here’s the kicker, craft it into prose that could give Hemingway a run for his money.

They have a lot of building to do, but the journey sure is exciting. Genesis isn't just working on keeping up with the weather or the Dow Jones; it's ingesting copious amounts of text and code data, training itself to think like humans.

Google isn't alone in this AI-powered journalism race.

CNET, Sky News, they're all dabbling.

Yet, Genesis seems to be spearheading the pack, setting the pace for the rest to follow. It’s too soon to predict its exact impact on journalism's future, but it’s safe to say we're in for a game-changer.

There might be fears of Genesis sparking off automation of journalism gigs, but it could also spawn an entirely new line of professions. The ones that would revolve around nurturing and taming these AI news writers.

This week we saw the SEC vs. Terraform Labs case that's been making headlines.

The legal team representing Terraform Labs and Do Kwon is drawing from the recent ruling in favor of Ripple, the blockchain-based digital payment protocol.

If you've missed out on the Ripple news, here's the deal: Back in 2020, the SEC sued Ripple alleging they had sold XRP, their native cryptocurrency, as an unregistered security. But as of July 13, 2023, U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres gave Ripple a thumbs up, ruling that the SEC didn't provide enough proof to classify XRP as a security.

Now, Terraform Labs and Do Kwon are playing the same card.

They're claiming the Ripple ruling should set a precedent for their case, suggesting the SEC is repurposing the same legal theory to argue that UST, LUNA, wLUNA, MIR, and mAssets are securities.

And according to them, if the Ripple ruling exposes anything, it's that the SEC's theory might need a few tweaks.

So, the question on everyone's mind is: will the court buy into Terraform and Do Kwon's argument?

The truth is, we don't know yet.

We're still waiting on a response to the motion to dismiss from the SEC. However, the Ripple ruling marks a significant victory for the cryptocurrency industry, and it could potentially strengthen Terraform and Do Kwon's defense.

A couple of additional tidbits from the legal files:

  • The motion to dismiss was tossed into the ring in New York earlier this week.

  • Terraform and Do Kwon's lawyers argue that the Ripple ruling "confirms the legal insufficiency of the SEC's argument that UST, LUNA, wLUNA, MIR, and mAssets were securities."

  • The SEC initiated this lawsuit back in February, asserting that Terraform and Do Kwon "marketed crypto asset securities to investors seeking to earn a profit."

They'll need to respond soon to the motion to dismiss, and you bet we'll keep you updated as the story unfolds.

Elon Musk, the man who rarely settles for 'normal', is currently stirring the pot with some cryptic chatter about a potential rebrand of Twitter to 'X'.

'X' might soon be our new go-to platform if Musk's recent tweets are anything more than mere speculation.

Keep an eye on that clock though, because Monday morning could just serve us the breakfast we didn't expect. As of now, it's still a game of wait-and-see with no official thumbs-up on the rebrand yet.

Musk, in his signature maverick style, has been known to flip the script when he steps into a new business. A rebrand wouldn't be the strangest move. And if the change does come, the reaction from us, the keyboard warriors, will be the real story.

Excitement or resistance, what will it be? Then there's the curiosity around the new avatar of the platform.

What will the 'X' factor be? As we speculate and make our guesses, only time will truly reveal whether our dear old Twitter morphs into 'X'.

A few tidbits to stoke your thoughts: Musk officially claimed 'X Corp.' as his own back in March. He's dropped a few hints on Twitter, including one rather poetic tweet saying, "And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds."

Some voices suggest a rebrand might be just what the doctor ordered to give Twitter a clean slate under Musk's command, while others caution that this could ruffle a few feathers among the user base.

So keep an eye on your Twitter feed this Monday - it might just transform into 'X' before your very eyes.
