Our friends at BlackRock, the world's biggest asset manager (we're talking about managing trillions of dollars here), are shaking things up. They're gearing up to throw their hat in the Bitcoin ETF (exchange-traded fund) ring.

Again…

This time they're teaming up with Coinbase for this grand adventure.

The goal is to use Coinbase Custody for the ETF and the crypto exchange’s spot market data for pricing. They've been working behind the scenes since midway through last year to make crypto directly available to institutional investors. The power of collaboration.

Now, don't get too excited yet.

There's a twist.

We're still not sure if this ETF will be spot or futures-based. BlackRock is keeping its lips sealed for now. But, remember this – the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the big boss of ETFs in the U.S., hasn't been too keen on spot bitcoin ETFs in the past. In fact, they've rejected every single application so far, though they have given the green light to several bitcoin futures ETFs.

Now, we wait.

In the blink of an eye, AI has gone from sci-fi fantasy to everyday reality for developers.

A recent survey from GitHub is like a flashing neon sign illuminating this shift. An astounding 92% of devs are now using AI tools for their coding. These aren't just tech enthusiasts playing around on personal projects. These are enterprise-level professionals who are finding real, tangible benefits from AI in their daily workflow.

Think of better code quality, speedier outputs, and fewer headaches at the production stage. We're talking serious business here, as AI tools are no longer just shiny new toys, but an integral part of the IT landscape.

But let's not get lost in the AI hype.

GitHub, Inbal Shani, put it perfectly: it's not about cranking out more lines of code, it's about empowering us devs to do our best work, every single day. The end game isn't to let AI do all the coding. No, no, no. We want to leverage AI to free up time for what really matters - designing solutions, learning new skills, and making those human connections that no AI can replicate. Sure, there are bumps along the road. Not all AI-generated code is top-notch, and we still spend way too much time waiting for builds and tests. But if used wisely, AI can be a powerful ally in making our work faster, more productive, and let's not forget, more enjoyable.

Welcome to the future of coding. It's a thrilling ride with AI in the driver's seat, helping us navigate the road ahead.

As always, remember: the tools don't make the developer, the developer makes the tools.

We got an interesting update today. It involves Sam Bankman-Fried, the mind behind FTX, and a series of allegations that have been keeping the legal gears turning.

Here's the story:

Sam was initially hit with eight heavy-duty charges (fraud, conspiracy, the works) when he found himself extradited from the sunny Bahamas back to the US. After extradition 5 more charges were added to his list.

Rough day at the office.

However, in a surprising twist, prosecutors are now offering to drop these five later charges, but there's a catch - they want a second trial for these charges in early 2024.

This could be a small victory for Sam, but it's not time to celebrate.

The original eight charges are still pending, and they're no slap on the wrist.

The accusations:

  • securities fraud

  • campaign finance violations

  • money laundering

If the court rules against him, he could be facing a century behind bars.

Sam and his team have come out swinging, arguing for all charges to be dropped.

While the outcome is uncertain, one thing's for sure - in the world of crypto, it's never a dull day.
